With the season of summer comes long warm days, beautiful sunsets on the horizon and endless days spent on the green fairway. On the Cape, the mild temperatures are perfect for enjoying the immaculately kept Cape Cod golf courses. No matter your skill level, with numerous superb courses from which to choose, there is something for everyone. We here at Chatham Gables Inn have taken time to make a list of our favorite Cape Cod golf courses for all handicaps!
The Captain’s Golf Course
The Captain’s offers two championship golf courses in one location and are great for any skill level. Together, the par-72 Port Course and the par-72 Starboard Course provide 36 holes of pleasure during your visit to Cape Cod. With a par-72, a slope 131, a rating of 72.1, The Port Course is more challenging than the Starboard Course. The Port Course has two kettle ponds that guard the greens and a stretch of new holes, 12-17, which are among the best around. The Starboard Course has a par 72, a slope 122 and a rating of 71.5. This course is a more comfortable one to play and favored by most who have played Captain’s regularly. Because of its ease, Starboard is great for those with higher handicaps. After trying one of the two fantastic courses at the Captain’s Club, dine at The Captains’ Café. It’s a great place to enjoy great food and delicious drink with your friends!
Cranberry Valley Golf Course
Designed by noted architects Geoffrey Cornish and William Robinson, the Cranberry Valley golf course offers a championship layout great for any skill level. Given ‘4 Stars’ by Golf Digest, and voted as ‘Best of Cape Cod‘ 2011, the golf course boasts excellent fairways and wonderful customer service. Philbrick’s at Cranberry Valley golf course serves scrumptious food with great service! If you get hungry on the course, stop by Philbrick’s and satisfy your craving!
Yarmouth offers two magnificent golf courses. Built in 1986, the Bayberry Hills golf course was designed by Geoffrey Cornish and Brian Silva. The original bent golf course offers 18 holes with water in play. Bayberry boasts 27 holes, the most recent of which is our 9-hole links style course. Opened in 1900, The Bass River Golf Course is one of Cape Cod’s best and oldest courses. This golf course is a private 9-hole club and has grown and flourished over it’s 100 plus years. With wide fairways and traditionally small undulating greens, the course is both a pleasure and a challenge to play! Follow up your game with delicious refreshments in the full service Grill.
