More About the Monomoy Theatre

Located in Chatham, the Monomoy Theatre is unique in its mission to give young performers the chance to work alongside professional directors and guest artists. 12 weeks over the summer, eight shows ranging from musicals to Shakespeare and contemporary classics to comedies are produced. The fast-paced and enriching creative environment provides a rewarding experience for performers and audiences alike.

Guys and Dolls (June 19th-30th, 2018)

Set in Depression-era New York City, Guys and Dolls follows the story of two big city gamblers and the women who love them. Nathan Detroit runs a famous floating crap game, and an ongoing plotline involves his quest for a safe place for the game as Adelaide continues her quest to convince him to marry her.

A Doll’s House (July 10th-14th, 2018)

This three-act play written by Norway’s Henrik Ibsen details the awakening of a middle-class mother and wife during the late 1800’s.

Present Laughter (July 17th-21st, 2018)

This 20th-century comedy follows a few days in the life of a successful yet narcissistic comedy actor as he prepares for a touring commitment in Africa.

Little Shop of Horrors (July 26th-28th and July 30th-August 4th, 2018)

Little Shop of Horrors is a hit comedy-rock musical about a hapless florist who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh.

As You Like It (August 7th-11th, 2018)

This Shakespearean comedy explores the mysterious topic of “love at first sight.” When lovers Rosalind and Orlando are forced into exile, they become entangled in a beguiling game of love, mistaken identity, and lust.

Lost in Yonkers (August 14th-18th, 2018)

Neil Simon’s award-winning play has become so popular, film adaptations have been made of it. The story follows two young boys who find their lives turned upside down when their father moves south for work, forcing them to live with their grandmother in Yonkers.

You Can’t Take it With You (August 21st-25th, 2018)

This romantic American comedy is set in 1930’s New York City. A man from a high-class family becomes engaged to a woman from a good-natured but decidedly eccentric family. Of course, hilarity ensues!
