Cape Cod Baseball League History
Since the year 1885, the Cape Cod Baseball League has been the premier amateur baseball league in the United States. They were mostly comprised of returning GI’s from both world wars before becoming a part of the NCAA in 1963. This league achieved many accomplishments throughout the years, such as being the first collegiate summer league to use wooden bats in 1985, or sending over 1,100 alumni into the professional baseball league. After all these years, these teams still draw countless fans to watch them play this traditional sport in the lush, grassy fields of Massachusetts.
