Plan Your Visit to the Heritage Museum and Gardens

General Information

The Heritage Museum and Gardens is a great museum to visit during your stay. It was formerly known as Sandwich’s Heritage Plantation and features more than 100 acres of splendid gardens along the banks of Shawme Pond. The museum is also filled with vintage cars and other artifacts, which will delight history buffs! 

The museum is open daily between April and October from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $18 for adults and $8 for children aged three to 11. Beyond October, you can still visit Heritage on selected dates, including during the holiday season. We recommend you check their website for updated information! 

The Museum

What can you see at the Heritage Museum? Well, to begin with, lots of exhibits. Take a journey back in time as you browse through the impressive vintage car collection, for example! Learn about how the automobile revolutionized America as you browse 23 authentic models. You can also peruse the Heritage Collection, which includes several of the original founder’s artifacts.

The Gardens

Did you know the Heritage Gardens constitute the largest public garden in Southern New England? You’ll love exploring its 100 acres of blooming flowers and shaded trails by the pond. Every season offers its own kind of magic. In the spring, marvel at the Dexter Rhododendrons and daylilies. In this summer, you’ll see beautiful hydrangeas. Finally, make a point to witness the magical Franklinia foliage in the fall. If you’re a nature lover, you’ll find that it’s a marvelous place to explore. Don’t forget to bring your camera!
